Bonfire Coalition Announces Parent's
Weekend Activities
Monday, April 7, 2003
Two organizations dedicated to the
revival of the Texas Aggie Bonfire tradition have scheduled a pair
of events to coincide with Parents’ weekend Saturday and Sunday.
The Bonfire Coalition, and its affiliated Bonfire Coalition for
Students, will host a barbeque Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Olsen
Field Pavilion. On Sunday, the Coalition will offer a car wash at
Long John Silvers on Texas Avenue, from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
At Saturday’s barbeque, which will precede kickoff of Texas A&M’s
spring football game, the Coalition will present its annual
report, which includes a review of collegiate bonfires across the
nation. Admission to both events is free; however, donations will
be accepted.
Bonfire Coalition for students is an officially recognized student
organization at Texas A&M. Its parent organization, the Bonfire
Coalition, works with former students and alumni.
