Howdy!

From the Chairs:

This semester is almost over and finals are quickly approaching, however, this is still an important even in the next two days that each of you need to participate in--as well as telling your friends to participate in. The Fall Activities Council will be holding a vote for an activity for the Fall Semester. An Old Army Bonfire is an option and this is your chance to take a proactive step to bringing Bonfire back to campus.  Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will be the vote. You can vote at http://vote.tamu.edu. Please vote on this important issue and help us bring Bonfire back this fall! It will be a step in the right direction.

For those of you staying around during the summer, please keep us in mind as we will be doing campus outreach trying to spread our message to summer students as well as any Class of '06 students who are visiting/registering this for the Fall. It will be a great way to set up for a great and powerful fall for the Coalition!

Thanks for all your support and help this past week at the BBQ and the car wash. The fundraiser was an extremely successful event. Thanks to all who helped out washing cars and those who brought their cars to be washed! We had a lot of fun!

From the Webmaster

The Bonfire Coalition is looking for some photos of your past bonfire experiences. We are looking for pictures to give us a visual lesson in the process of building Bonfire--to tell the story of the journey. These pictures would be posted on our website, so please make sure they are your pictures to give permission to use.

Pictures like you and your buddies in your grodes, humping logs, cuttin' a tree, etc. Anything that you can look at and see the unity, bonding, etc. that comes from the experience of building Bonfire, please send to us. If you can email any pictures to webmaster@bonfirecoalition.org and include which Bonfire (i.e. Bonfire '91, etc.) the picture is from and a brief description of the picture, that would be helpful.

From Campus Outreach

The Campus Outreach committee will be holding its meeting/social event this Tuesday, April 23 at the Aggie baseball game against Rice. We will meet at 6:20 at the front gates to Olsen Field. We will enter the stadium to find our seats about 6:30, so if you show up late, we will sit in section 203 (which is on the first base side, second deck) toward the top. We will be discussing the past week's events for the Bonfire Coalition and what we have in store for the near future. We would love to see a lot of people at this game, so bring your yelling voices and be ready to Beat the Hell Outta Rice.

Thank you to those of you who showed up for the BBQ last Thursday, we were happy with the turnout. If you have any questions, e-mail CampusOutreach@hotmail.com.

From Planning

The BBQ was a huge success! Numerous people attended to show their support for the Bonfire Coalition. The car wash on Sunday was also great. We raised a lot of money and awareness about what we're trying to do. Thanks a million to everyone who showed up to help or get their car washed. We will not be having another meeting this semester due to finals and the busy schedule of the planning committee's members. I want to thank all of ya'll who came to the meeting and shared your awesome ideas. I look forward to working with ya'll next semester.

Thanks again and Gig 'Em,

From Former Student Outreach

Well the BBQ went off great this past week and we met lots of people enthusiastic about trying to get Bonfire to burn again. I would like to thank all of you that came out. Also the Car wash Sunday was great. All of you that came out and helped thanks. We had a great time. With finals approaching we all have cramped schedules, but try to make room to talk to Former Students about Bonfire Coalition. If you are willing to talk to your Hometown Aggie Club on our behalf over the summer, please email us and let
us help you with coordinating that.

For those of you staying here this summer we will be very active trying to get Bonfire and its supports to be a success. For those of you wanting to help, go to vote.tamu.edu and vote for the old army Bonfire for Fall activities, if we can get this item on to have overwhelming numbers in the vote, we may possibly have an Old Army Bonfire in 2002. It is up to you to vote. Remember our address is formerstudents@bonfirecoalition.org if you would like to contact the Former Students Committee.

Thanks and Gig 'em
