From the Chairs:

Well, the semester is winding down. Some of us are just leaving for the summer, others of us are graduating and moving on the other things. All of us, I am sure, still carry the same desire to see Bonfire burn again. We have had a great time getting to know y'all this semester and look forward to working with you when you return in the fall to help bring Bonfire back.

The board will be active over the summer, holding board meetings once a month. We will have fun raisers and be doing campus outreach over the summer as well. If you are going to be around College Station this summer and would like to help out with some of these activities--reaching out to summer school students, new students, etc., watch your email for updates.  Our updates will be less frequent during the summer, but we'll still communicate with you. Good luck to our current students on Finals!

From Former Student Outreach

Well those dreaded finals have once again come upon us and our very existence at A&M are in the hands of our professors. The Former Students Committee is going great and we will be very active during the summer. The Former Students have heard the call of the Old Army Bonfire possibly being a reality. They are coming in droves to see if what they are hearing is a dream or a reality. With diligent work by the Coalition with other A&M organizations we hope to lobby this effort into a reality. How can you
help, support our cause by informing everyone about our efforts to make this a success. Lobby the Student Senate, who I might ad is there to protect the interests of students, as well as the Traditions Committee to support an Old Army Bonfire. If enough of us show support for the event, someone will listen. Also talk to anyone and everyone about how the vote went when the results are posted. If you are home during the summer, talk to your Hometown Aggie Club about the Bonfire Coalition. With the support of all students, both Former and current we can make this happen. So study the hell Ags, and ...1 ....2 .....3 Beat The Hell Outta Finals..A! Whoop!

From Fundraising

Fundraisers for this summer have been planned for June 30th and July 28th.  The activities for these days will be determined in the following weeks. If you will be in College Station over the summer and would like to help out on these days (or can make it into town!), please contact Robin Brown '03 and Ian MacDiarmid '04 at fundraising@bonfirecoalition.org. We set some tentative dates for fundraising events for the Fall 2002 semester at our last meeting as well. We currently plan to have fundraisers coinciding with several home football games. These include First Yell (Virginia Tech), Texas Tech, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. These are scheduled for Sept. 21, Oct. 5, Oct. 26, and Nov. 9, respectively, and are subject to change. The actual fundraisers taking place on these days will be determined as they draw nearer, and we will take into consideration factors such as game time. The first meeting of the Fundraising Committee for the Fall 2002 semester is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10th. The time and location will be determined at a later date. Hope everyone has a fun and safe summer, and we look forward to you joining our committee this fall!
