Bonfire Coalition now
has T-shirts. Better yet, we are giving them away free with every
$10 donation. See our website for out of town donation level
requirements (if we have to mail it). They are maroon shirts with
PRO BONFIRE on the front and our website and REBUILD, REUNITE on
the back. These are really great shirts and are great to wear to
class or to athletic events. Email coalitionshirts@hotmail.com
with your shirt size requirements and when you'll be making your
donation so we can have your shirt ready.
This is going to be an exciting and fun semester for the Bonfire
Coalition. We are in the process of trying to meet with Dr.
Gates to open the discussion on the future of Aggie Bonfire on
campus. We are also planning many activities to help promote
awareness to our efforts and to Bonfire itself. If you want to see
Bonfire returned to campus soon, we need your help. You can help
in two ways, with your time by volunteering with one of our great
committees or by making a donation, getting and wearing one of our
free t-shirts so other Aggies can know about us.
We'll be having a general meeting soon for anyone who is
interested in helping out or if you have any questions. We will
answer any and all questions about our organization and our
efforts. Read below to find out more about the committees that you
can help out with:Gig 'em

Publicity Committee
John Cox '95 is co-chair of our publicity committee. If you are
interested in helping to publicize our efforts, sent an email to
publicity@bonfirecoalition.org. One of the first efforts of this
committee will be to design a pamphlet that we can hand out at all
our events. Let John know if you can help his committee out.
Campus Outreach Committee
The Campus Outreach Committee will be having its first meeting on
Tuesday, September 17 at 8:15 p.m.. We will meet in the back left
corner of the MSC Flag Room.
We will have plenty to discuss as far as where we will be going
with the organization this semester. There are a lot of
opportunities for people to get involved this fall, and we need
all the help we can get. We had a good turnout last spring, and we
hope that carries over. If you have any questions, contact us at
campusoutreach@bonfirecoalition.org.
Former Students Outreach:
With the new semester starting, there are a lot of things going on
this semester. One of the most important is all Aggies working for
Bonfire to burn on campus next year. This means we need to work
with the Dr. Gates in an effort to get him to approve and work
with us to make plans to have Bonfire burn next November. With
only the seniors, actually building Bonfire, Former Students and
5th year seniors are the only Aggies that built Bonfire and saw it
burn in their undergraduate career at Texas A&M. This is
vital for the Bonfire Coalition. It is pertinent why we need to
get the Former Students involved in the Bonfire Coalition. The
only way we are going to do this is by all Aggies, Freshman of '06
to Seniors of '03, Former Students to Graduate Students to get
involved and recruit the help of Former Students to aid us in
bringing back Bonfire to the campus of Texas A&M.
This is the purpose of the Former
Student Committee. I ask for all Ags, especially undergraduates to
help the Former Student Committee in informing Former Students
about what is going on here in Aggieland and what they can do to
help us bring Bonfire back to Texas A&M. Our first meeting of the
year will be at the MSC Flag Room on Thursday, September 19th at
7:00 PM. We will meet at couches around the Corps Flag Display; we
hope to see you there. Email me at formerstudents@bonfirecoalition.org
for more information or with any questions you have.

Historian:
I plan on making a detailed chronology of all past Bonfires.
Eventually I would like to see it added to
www.bonfirecoalition.org, but for now I am just getting data and
pictures. Providing a detailed history of Bonfire will draw
interest to our site and be good information for all of us to
know, if not just from idle curiosity. If you have anything to
contribute or have worked on Bonfires in the past and have
something to offer, please come forward. Also, if you would like
to work on this project with me I would appreciate whatever time
and effort you have to give. This will probably take a good amount
of time being that so much information needs to be researched
(stack design, height, location, student population at the time,
build schedule, cut schedule, who worked on it, media influence,
log/trash source, popular opinion, etc.).
As you may or may not know yet, but
Danyelle Mack has resigned her position as co-chair of the Former
Student Outreach Committee. She doesn't have enough time to help
Ryan Kirkpatrick, the other co-chair, with doing what is needed at
this time. She will be helping me with this project.
