| September 1, 2002 Board Meeting
Minutes
I. Code of Conduct
Board members discussed and ratified the proposed Code of Conduct.
This document was prepared based on discussions at the July 27,
2002 meeting. It outlines the responsibilities a Bonfire Coalition
board member has to him/herself and to the entire Board of
Directors.
II. Board Elections:
The board selected new members to the Board of Directors as well
as elected new executive board
positions. They are as follows:
Charles Teel '04: Co-chair
Ian MacDairmid '04: Treasurer
Kristin West '04: Secretary
It was also decided to give an invitation to John Cox '95 to join
the Coalition Board as Publicity Chair
IV. Recognition of Student Organization
Scott and Brad will be attending pre-recognition training soon.
Name of Student Organization must be distinctly different from the
Bonfire Coalition.
V. T-shirts
Dave Nelson offered to loan the cost of the first 100 shirts.
Shirts will be given free to anyone making a minimum $10 donation,
or minimum $15 donation for out of town donors.
VI. Trademark
We are looking into copyrighting or trade marking the words
'Bonfire Coalition' and our logo.
It was discussed that at the meeting with Dr. Gates, it needs to
be asked why no videos of past Bonfires are available to the
public.
VII. Essay Contest
The essay contest will be postponed until we obtain recognition.
Brad will contact Alycia who came up with the idea and ask her if
she Would like to run the essay
contest.
VIII. Other business
Fall meetings will take place biweekly.
Location is temporarily in the library annex study rooms on
campus.
Each committee is to come up with a committee mission statement.
The idea was brought forward to ask Frank Cox if he would be
willing to do a book signing where we
have Bonfire Coalition bookmarks prepared to distribute with all
the books.
Marc and Dave met Dave South for lunch to explain the mission and
purpose of the Bonfire Coalition.
Meeting with President Gates is tentative at this point. Time is
to be determined.
Car bash fundraiser--we need to find a way to get Charles' car
transported to College Station. |
