November 13, 2002 Board Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order.

Board members present and accounted for:

Marc Barringer, Charles Teel, Ryan Kirkpatrick, Brad Shipman, Alycia Zuehlke, Ian MacDiormid, Austin Bonds, John Cox, Alyssa Mervine, Scott Scherer, Patrick Dugan, Dave Nelson.

The following items were discussed:

I.        Board Positions

  1. Vice Chairman - Ryan Kirkpatrick was nominated and elected to the position of Vice Chairman.
  1. Secretary - Alycia Zuehlke was nominated and elected to the position of Secretary.

II.       Campus Ministers Association

  1. Dave Nelson suggested that Bonfire Coalition should introduce itself to the Campus Ministers Association (CMA) and possibly set up a meeting with the CMA.  The CMA holds the power of moral persuasion over the university community and holds regular meetings with important university administrators.  The Coalition should show the CMA that it is a reasonable and responsible organization with the best interests of the A&M students and former students in mind.  Dave Nelson and John Cox volunteered to work on this together.

III.      Bonfire Coalition for Students

  1. Congratulations given to the Bonfire Coalition for Students (BCS) for being recognized as a student organization.
  2. It is agreed among BC and BCS members that Bonfire Coalition and Bonfire Coalition for Students are two branches of the same organization.  Both branches hold the same goal of returning Bonfire to A&M’s campus as quickly and safely as possible.  The BCS is the on-campus counterpart of Bonfire Coalition.  The two branches may act independently, but both groups should check the lines of communication and, every three months, should check for “rifts” between the Coalition and the BCS.

IV.     Committee Reports
